In collaboration with Canadian Broadcasting Network (CBC) Creator Network, I produced a short documentary - Filipino Traditions Make the Holidays Brighter in Canada - about my family's journey from the Philippines to Canada. Starring my family and friends, I recorded how Filipino culture is embedded in our life in Saskatchewan. Also, I interviewed members of my family on their journey, transition, and experiences in Canada. In the span of September to January (BER months), I documented our customs and traditions through our gatherings, holidays, and daily lives, ultimately sharing how important Filipino culture and community are. In 2009, my parents and I moved to Canada in hopes for more opportunities and a better future. Since there are many Filipino immigrants in Canada, this film portrays a form of Filipino culture celebrated by the Liamzon family and friends. As a proud Filipino, my family and I are always incorporating our culture in our everyday lives because it is important to remember our heritage, so we can pass it down to the next generation. The focus of the film is “Family is all we are. It’s all we need.” Hopefully, watching the short film will entertain, inspire, evoke emotions/memories, and allow the viewers to relate to the video somehow.

My parents play a huge part in the making of this documentary. As I grow older, I am so grateful for my life in Canada. I owe it all to my mom and dad, so this short documentary is a "love letter" of gratitude for the sacrifices my parents' made and for setting my siblings and I up for the future.

Thank you, mom and dad.
