Samantha Liamzon is in her graduating year as a Creative Technologies’ student in the faculty of Media, Arts, and Performance (MAP) with a certificate in Animation and a minor in Film Production at the University of Regina.

As an interdisciplinary artist, she explores themes of culture, identity, sexuality, coming of age, relationships, family, nostalgia, and play. Storytelling is what drives Sam in the creative field, and her creative practice focuses on bringing stories to life, through animation, film, audio, augmented reality, video games, projection mapping, and graphic design.

In 2009, Sam and her parents left Manila, Philippines to start a new life in Canada. Adjusting to a new environment was a struggle, but telling stories in digital forms kept her connected to her culture and identity. In the pursuit of new endeavors, she strives to create meaningful work and build relationships along the way.

Sam’s work has been exhibited regionally and nationally. For instance, she presented Disconnected (interactive Bitsy game of social media) and Savory Simulations (projection mapping of toy foods) at the Fifth Parallel Gallery in 2025; Let’s Go fAR Together (an AR experience on the University of Regina’s history) at College Avenue Campus in 2024; Ligaya (an AR experience of a Philippines street) at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival in 2024 and Nuit Blanche Regina in 2023.

​Sam also partnered with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to create a short documentary on Filipino traditions for the Creator Network in 2024. In a collaborative team, she was an artist in Let’s Go fAR (2024- 2025), an augmented reality experience that celebrates the University of Regina’s 50th Anniversary. Currently, Sam is part of a team of artists collaborating with the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the Indigenous Veterans Monument Committee to create an interactive website for the Indigenous Veterans’ Monument, located in Regina, SK.
