description - Notes
Celebrating the University of Regina's 50th Anniversary, Let's Go fAR! was made in collaboration with Shaira Castillo, Charity Marsh, and Evie Johnny Ruddy. We also worked with Archives and Special Collections at the Dr. John Archer Library and other people who shared stories about the university. The team built an interactive experience through augmented reality (AR) hosted on Hoverlay. There are two geo-located sites that bring the university's history to life. At College Avenue Campus, users can learn about early days on campus. When was it built? What were the original buildings? What were the faculties? When and how did it become independent? In Hoverlay, participants can experience rich stories when arriving at a specific point on campus. For instance, when moving towards Darke Hall, users relive its performance history through a 3D rendered Darke Hall theater, photo collages, and audio. Located at the center of Dr. Lloyd Barber's Academic Green, another AR experience comes to life for fall orientation. Once users step onto the green, they are invited to explore each interactive story, which is marked by a digital pin on the map in the app. You can do the following: scratch records on digital DJ turntables in the IMP Labs, test your knowledge on bat trivia, place a 160-foot carillon, activate stories about the old Student's Union Building (SUB), and more.

In the early researching phase, Shaira and I learned about the university's history through archival material(s) at the Archives and Special Collections. We took note of our favourite stories and brainstormed how we can translate them into an AR experience. Guided by Charity Marsh and Evie Johnny Ruddy, we storyboarded our ideas and got to work!
