After brainstorming, I created a storyboard with quick drawings of each scene. To achieve human stop motion, the actors must be frozen on the spot until the photo is captured. Then, they move to their next pose – it is a repeated cycle. I asked my cousin and brothers to participate in my project. We shot for two to three days. After converting each scene into an image sequence, I imported them into Procreate Dreams to actively draw the animations (this part took the longest). Once I was satisfied, I exported and made my final edits on Premiere Pro.

Last Man Standing is an "battle royale" animation of three players having a nerf gun battle to the death. Using the game principles of Splatoon 3, Fortnite, and Overwatch 2, this combination is a unique game style. The three characters are sucked into the video game world. They must play to find a way out. Who will win? As a final project in FILM 203: Animation, Last Man Standing brings my favourite video games to life through human stop motion animation. Specifically, Overwatch 2 is referenced in the map reveal and weapon layout. Moreover, Fortnite is referenced through the third person point-of-view (POV), weapon pickup/switch, and the chug jugs for shields. Not to mention, Splatoon 3 also makes an appearance in the opening sequence - when the character throws burst bomb onto the wall. As a big fan of First Person Shooter (FPS) games, I wanted to replicate the intensity and competitiveness that all those games bring.
