Retro Rewind

description - Notes
Retro Rewind is a compilation of my favorite Disney DVD shows and movies displayed on the old, vintage television. Before we moved to Canada, I do not remember much when I was in the Philippines, but one of my core memories were watching movies through CDs and VHS tapes. When my mom commutes home from work in the Philippines, she always passes by street vendors who were selling movies and shows that were popular at the time. She would bring me new tapes to watch such as Toy Story, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, and more. I loved watching and rewatching everything she gave me. I've been loving animation ever since. We still have some CDs in my basement. As I was sketching ideas, I thought: what if I recreated the old box television on an actual box and projected snippets of nostalgic movies/shows? Playful Reminiscence is a series of animations that use projection mapping to convey nostalgia and play. Since we live in a capitalistic society, many adults are working endlessly to make ends meet. This results in fatigue, burnout, and loss of time. Due to the stressors of adulthood, I turn to the joyful moments of my childhood for comfort. By exploring nostalgia in playful depictions, users may return to innocent and happy memories of the past.

Retro Rewind is inspired by the old box television I used to have in the Philippines. One day, my mom brought High School Musical and High School Musical 2 CDs. I watched it and fell in love with it. It's still my favourite musical trilogy of all time. I know all the songs and memorized all the lyrics.
There are more movies and television shows that speak dearly to me. I could not include everything. The compilation is filled with my favourite ones.
