Are You Lucky in Love draws inspiration from Suburb Talks, a podcast I frequently listen to for entertainment. Basically, it is a group of American friends who talk about their childhood, relationships, hookup culture, politics, and more. I wanted to create an inclusive game that shies away from heteronormative dating culture.

Are You Lucky with Love is an online Twine game that focuses on inclusivity and explores meaningful connections in 2025. After the user inputs their preferred name, gender, and sexual orientation, their morality is tested in a series of player-based situations. Once the instructions are read, the participant chooses their “cupid” sidekick to guide them through the dating process. Then, they meet their potential matches from four active contestants – Maeve, Evelyn, Jay, and Atticus - and decide who they want to become acquainted with. Guided by their host, the player will write their own story with the series of choices made. Are You Lucky with Love places the user at the game’s forefront, allowing the players to write their own love story. This encourages active engagement with endless possibilities, creating a nonlinear narrative that connects the audience to written stories. Based on popular dating shows and my experience, I needed to produce a realistic dating game dedicated to hopeless romantics. In the dating pool, I find that encountering someone with similar relationship values and thoughts is difficult. Most people are interested in one-night stands, while only a few desire a genuine connection. So, I made an inclusive dating game that explores the depths of relationships as a Generation Z in 2023, which is till applicable now.
